When the Charlotte Hornets made the decision to trade franchise cornerstone LaMelo Ball, it was an unpopular move for the fans. They had grown attached to Ball over the past six years, but unfortunately, the front office thought they had reached their ceiling with the star point guard.
In return, the trade package was centered on Naz Reid, a former Sixth Man of the Year from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now, he gets a turn as one of the standout players for the Hornets moving forward under head coach Charles Lee.
Naz Reid is already getting rave reviews from head coach Charles Lee
Reid will most likely have a big year for the Hornets because he is one of the most proven offensive players on the team. Of course, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel are the franchise's cornerstones now, but having Reid around can also boost their chances of winning games.
After serving as the sixth man for most of his career, it seems Reid is destined to be the full-time starter for the Hornets. He provides all kinds of strengths on offense with his ability to score from anywhere, while also opening up opportunities for other players to capitalize on.

As the head coach, Lee has been hands-on with the Hornets in training camp. One of the players who has impressed him a lot has been Reid, which is unsurprising for Timberwolves fans who are familiar with Reid's approach to the game and mentality.
"The versatility of Naz has been displayed in so many different ways, defensively and offensively. The human being, he's phenomenal. I had a couple dinners with him, and he'll get talking to you and telling stories, and you can just tell he loves the game," Lee said about Reid and why he has taken a liking to the new Hornets big man.
"He loves his teammates. He's really excited to get here. With any transition, it takes some time to get yourself acclimated, but he's fit in perfectly, and our group has done a great job of bringing him along."
Moving forward, it seems that Reid will be a big favorite for Lee in the upcoming season. They are not seen as contenders of course, but they could still be competitive, especially after that promising second half of the 2025-26 season.
