The Kansas City Chiefs need wide receiver help. There are other issues on the roster, but nothing is more important than finding a way to add to their wide receiver room by the NFL trade deadline.
There are some intriguing options worth considering, like Josh Downs of the Indianapolis Colts and Hollywood Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles. But Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. would be a top option.
Unfortunately, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, a trade for Thomas isn't looking very likely despite plenty of interest from teams, including the Chiefs.
Chiefs interest in Brian Thomas Jr. not likely to materialize into a trade
"Kansas City had interest in Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr., but the Jaguars have been less inclined to sell on the former first-rounder," Breer writes.
This update is a tough one for the Chiefs, as Thomas would maybe be Kansas City's ideal trade deadline option as both a short-term upgrade and a long-term boost as well.
Thomas is under contract on his 2024 rookie deal through 2027, and he also would have a 2028 fifth-year option. He'd also have made a great complement to the Chiefs' current WR room.
While Rashee Rice is back, and Xavier Worthy and Cyrus Allen could provide a spark here or there, the Chiefs need a better WR option for Patrick Mahomes.

Thomas might be the biggest upgrade they could realistically make, barring a stunning Garrett Wilson trade with the New York Jets.
But that kind of move isn't looking likely now with this update from Breer. The Jaguars have seemingly pulled Thomas off the trade block, as they aren't inclined to move the 2024 first-rounder.
The Chiefs would've always had a hard time landing him, as the Jaguars are top contenders out of the AFC, and helping the Chiefs, one of their top competitors, wouldn't make sense.
It seems apparent that Kansas City will need to look elsewhere for WR help, with the aforementioned Downs and Brown as the most realistic options for the Chiefs.
