The Kansas City Chiefs are coming up on a hot matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, and what makes this game extra contentious is that both teams are undefeated going into it. But, one Chiefs rookie just got some bad news less than a day before the clash.
It's worth noting that it's pretty incredible the Raiders are undefeated at this point. The team only won three games for their entire season last year, and now, they've already won their first three in a row. Rookies can take some credit, but so can veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, who's really helping lead this offense.
Chiefs rookie Mansoor Delane gets an expensive introduction to the NFL
Each weekend during the season, the NFL announces punishments for certain players who break the rules the weekend before. Basically, these can be plays that were flagged at the time and deemed worthy of extra punishment or plays that weren't even flagged in-game but, after review, need attention.
"The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk, promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans," the NFL explains on its official website.
On Saturday, ahead of the Week 4 games, the NFL handed Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane a $12,537 fine for an unnecessary roughness penalty involving a low block at 4:58. So, consider this a quick introduction to life as a professional football player. A fine was going to happen at some point. He might as well get it over with now.
