Last season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were once again cruising through the National League in the playoffs. The team was well on its way to another World Series, which, if won, would have marked its second consecutive title.
After the team beat the Philadelphia Phillies in a wild fashion during the NLDS, veteran infielder Miguel Rojas announced he would likely retire at the end of the 2026 season.
“I'm 36 years old. It's been a wild ride. I've given it everything I've had in my four years here. Hopefully, I can finish my career here. Because I'm going to retire after next year," Rojas told Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation.
Then, a few short months later, Rojas made it official with his free-agent signing. Rojas signed with the Dodgers on a one-year deal, confirming that he would be retiring at the end of this season.
“World Series hero Miguel Rojas is returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers for what will constitute his final season in the major leagues. Rojas, 36, agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.5 million contract for 2026 and will help in player development while also assisting the Dodgers front office in 2027, according to a source familiar with the agreement,” ESPN’s Alden Gonzales wrote.
With the regular season coming to an end this week, Rojas took time to say thank you to Dodgers fans in a heartfelt post.
“Thank You Dodger Fans. From the bottom of my heart .- Miggy Ro,” Rojas posted.
There is no doubt that the veteran has loved his time with the team over the last few seasons. Rojas is a veteran who does everything the right way, and he has had some great moments as a player for LA.
Rojas has made $47 million throughout his career. Giving gratitude to the fans at the end of his career is what it is all about. This instance speaks volumes about who he is as a player, and with the postseason on the way, Rojas is likely just soaking it all in.
