Sometimes the most RANDOM TikTok videos blow up for the most RANDOM reasons! And this is one of those head-scratching videos that I've seen ALL OVER THE PLACE...and it's not for the reason you'd expect.

Let me set the scene... TikTok user @anniekand3l candidly asked her followers to explain how hairdryers work. Seems like a pretty basic and lighthearted question, right?

"do hairdryers evaporate the water or just blow it away genuine question."

And you'd expect hairdressers, aestheticians, and science-y people to pipe up and share their knowledge on the matter. But the comments took a sharp turn. It was as if everyone on the internet had a giant group chat without Annie and collectively decided, "Let's make this the most chaotic and confusing comment section ever...and NO ONE tell Annie the real answer!"

And now, it's time for the real answer to finally be revealed. Drumroll pleeeeease! Turns out, the answer is actually a combination of two things: heat and airflow. The heat from a blow dryer helps the water on your hair evaporate faster, while the force of the air physically pushes water off the strands. So, yes, you can technically blow-dry your hair using the cool setting — it'll just take considerably longer because you're relying mostly on airflow and your body's natural heat, rather than heat to speed up evaporation.
