"Is This A Delivery Guy?": A Man Burglarizing Hayden Christensen's Home Recognized Him, Apologized, And Promptly Gave Back His Stuff — But The Story Only Gets Weirder From There

At Los Angeles Comic Con this past weekend, Hayden Christensen revealed one of the most bizarre fan encounters of his career, and it certainly takes the cake: a would-be house burglar.

The Star Wars actor attended the convention on Friday and Saturday, with photo ops, signings, and a special 45-minute Q&A session, during which this almost unbelievable story came up.

If you didn't already know, Christensen is best known for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker, who later (spoilers?) becomes the famed Darth Vader.

He first appeared in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and has since revisited his role in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, among others.

Over the weekend, an LACC moderator asked Christensen to share the strangest fan encounter he’d experienced throughout his career, and he certainly delivered. He jumped in to tell a story from years ago when he was distracted during a phone call while waiting for a friend to stop by.

The way he explained it, the actor heard his front door open and, assuming it was his friend, didn't bother checking as the person went upstairs. When he finished his phone call and went upstairs to see what his friend was up to, Christensen instead found a burglar with armfuls of his stuff, presumably preparing to leave.

"I’m like, 'Is this a delivery guy?'" he told the crowd. "And I look, and I’m like, 'This is all my stuff.'"

Luckily for the Star Wars actor, the burglar immediately recognized who he was and started handing over the things he was going to steal from him.

But the interesting twist on their interaction was that it didn't stop there, but that the burglar explained that he was going through a rough patch and was only robbing Christensen to get together the funds to buy a train ticket home.

Rather than calling the police or kicking the man out, what did the actor do? He gave him new clothes and shoes because he didn't have anything decent to wear for job interviews. Christensen even offered to give the man a ride to the train station the following day to buy him a train ticket himself.

While the would-be burglar never showed up the following day, it was a sweet moment. After regaling the crowd with this story, Christensen quipped, "Please don't try to burglarize my house again. I've got great security cameras."

Another strange layer to the story is that it's a little odd that Christensen was targeted for a burglary at his home when his ex, Rachel Bilson, was famously robbed by the "bling ring" nearly twenty years ago, when they were together.

While no longer a couple, they share a daughter, Briar Rose, and might want to start taking a look at at-home security measures.

It’s certainly not every day that a celebrity catches someone in the act of robbing their home and responds with an act of kindness instead of anger or fear. And while the guy never took Christensen up on his offer to buy him a train ticket, it really shows you that a little bit of kindness is a pretty powerful thing.
