MLB insider 'expects' Yankees to keep Aaron Boone as manager

Presumably, managing the New York Yankees is a taxing position.

Year after year, anything less than a World Series championship is a letdown, at least in the eyes of the fanbase.

This season is Aaron Boone's ninth season as Yankees manager, and the Yankees have made one trip to the Fall Classic. But the AL East club was dominated by a much better Los Angeles Dodgers team in five games in 2024.

It appears New York's front office has unwavering support in Boone, whose contract runs through the 2027 season.

FanSided's Robert Murray expects the Yankees to retain Boone for 2027, no matter the outcome of the current year.

"But both [Brian] Cashman and Boone have done a very good job in New York. Cashman is a surefire Hall of Fame executive," Murray wrote.

"Boone is very good at his job and like I mentioned with [Torey] Lovullo, would be hired in a second if he was ever let go," Murray added. "I firmly expect both to remain with the Yankees beyond the 2026 season. They do not feel like they are in any danger of being let go."

Outside of 2023, the Yankees have made the postseason every season under Boone. But that's not good enough for fans.

They expect a title, something the Yankees haven't achieved since 2009.

The public's perception of Boone could change drastically if the Yankees can finally hoist a trophy this year.

Frankly, it would be a shock if the Yankees skipper was let go after the season, even if the team fails to make a deep postseason run.
