NBA could make major Timberwolves decision for specific superstar Anthony Edwards reason

This offseason has brought Minnesota Timberwolves fans excitement that has not been felt in a long time, probably since the Kevin Garnett era. However, they are right there with their current roster construction and seem to be in a great spot heading into the season.

The Timberwolves are ready for the task at hand, and they believe they have the roster to compete. It all started by getting LaMelo Ball in a trade.

“The Charlotte Hornets are trading star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid and a series of draft picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday. In addition to Reid, the Hornets will receive a 2033 unprotected first-round pick and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033). Charlotte also gets first-round pick swaps in 2028, 2029 and 2030," ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk wrote.

Then, they recently finished the offseason by signing former NBA champion Jonathan Kuminga.

“Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, plus a player option, agent Aaron Turner tells ESPN. Kuminga will be a starter alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert on the West contender," ESPN's Shams Charania wrote.

Minnesota may go through a major change in the next few years, one that would send them to the Eastern Conference. One of the biggest reasons is Anthony Edwards, who would help balance the stars between the conferences.

“All signs point towards the Timberwolves as the team who will be chosen to move to the Eastern Conference upon NBA expansion in 2028-29. Not only is Minnesota viewed as the most logical choice geographically, but there’s appeal to star-balancing conferences with Anthony Edwards,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.

This would be interesting for the Timberwolves, but it does make the most sense. There would be no going out West on multiple occasions in a season. By being in the East, they would only have to play West Coast teams once on the road.

Edwards is a superstar who continues to evolve his game each season. The 25-year-old emerging star is one of the best in the game, and the NBA would like to balance the league as best as it can. They see Edwards as a future face of the league.
