Rams' Puka Nacua's knee injury could have been avoided

In the waning moments of a tight NFL game, the priority is usually to walk away with a win.

The Rams left FedEx Field with a win but they might have suffered a greater loss.

Los Angeles put its final offensive snap in the hands of star wide receiver Puka Nacua.

As the All-Pro was tackled he suffered a knee injury vs. the Commanders. On the final play when the game was all but over.

It looks like that injury will sideline him for some time

Puka Nacua suffers significant injury on final offensive play for Rams

ESPN and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Puka Nacua suffered a knee injury on the final snap.

The good news? The team does not believe he tore his ACL.

The bad news? The team thought that was a possibility.

Garafolo reports that Nacua will undergo an MRI on Monday to evaluate the injury.

But Los Angeles clearly saw signs of a serious injury, so much so they have a take on whether or not it was a torn ACL.

Even if Nacua has no damage to that ligament, a knee injury that requires an MRI could be significant.

The salt in the wound? It happened on a play that the Rams didn't need Nacua on.

They could have run the ball with Blake Corum, Kyren Williams, or anyone outside of their injury-prone, star wideout.

The All-Pro didn't even need to be on the field.

Nacua's injury is yet to be decided, but the way it happened is regrettable.
