Sophia Bush is setting the record straight about her relationship with Ashlyn Harris after the couple was accused of having an affair.
The One Tree Hill actress made an appearance on “Call Her Daddy" on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when she shared the timeline of how she and the soccer star's romance began.
“Two people who had filed for divorce and lived in separate residences from their exes went to dinner,” the actress said of their first date with Harris.
Host Alex Cooper then asked Bush if there were any overlaps in their dating with previous partners.
“I can say that,” Bush responded.
Bush was previously married to Grant Hughes before she filed for divorce in August 2023. Harris was married to Ali Krieger, and the former couple shares two children: daughter Sloane, 5, and son Ocean, 4. Krieger and Harris were teammates on the US Women's National Team and won two FIFA Women's World Cup titles together in 2015 and 2019. Harris later filed for divorce in September 2023, and Bush's romance with her was confirmed by Page Six the following month.
During the interview, the actress admitted during the interview that while there wasn't overlap, she wishes that they would have taken more time given that they both had recently broken up with their partners.
“Everybody wishes they could’ve done a million things differently at the time,” Bush said, adding that the first date should have taken "six weeks later."
Bush is still standing her ground on her relationship timeline despite what others might think and is not going to work to try to change people's minds.
“What I can’t do is change my reality for anyone else. I also can’t be my own personal definition of insanity, which is to try the same thing over and over again with no result. I’m never going to change anybody’s mind who made it up.”
While many online were having conversations discussing their relationship, Bush explained that the affair rumors affected their careers.
“It was very clearly hard for everyone, and it became like a sport, and that was ugly,” she said.
The two have since been able to move on and even got married last year in a private ceremony in Upstate New York. Bush explained that the ceremony was intimate and that it was "perfect" for the couple for their next chapter in their love story.
“My best friend was coming to visit with her kid,” Bush recalled. “And we were like, ‘Cool, so this weekend, and you’ll do it?’ And then her best friend came, and we literally prepped food, put it on the smoker, got married in the backyard, had dinner. And it was the best, most perfect day.”
