What $4 billion Angels sale means for Mike Trout

There will be a new era of Los Angeles Angels baseball.

One that does not include Arte Moreno, the club's owner for the past 23 years, since he purchased the team from the Walt Disney Company in 2003.

Moreno sold the franchise to Stan Kroenke, a man who owns professional sports teams like the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche.

Now that Moreno is out of the picture in 2027, major changes are coming to the Angels. But what does this mean for Mike Trout's career?

"Probably not much," The Athletic's Sam Blum wrote Wednesday. "He [Trout] made it pretty clear on Tuesday that he is happy with this change, and it doesn't impact his desire to remain with the team."

Trout, drafted by the Angels in 2009, has displayed unwavering loyalty towards the organization. He has repeatedly said that he would prefer not to be traded.

Trout's contract includes a no-trade clause, so he would have to approve any deal.

"But with Trout owning a no-trade clause, he holds every card in the deck," Blum added. "If he wants to say he's staying. And why would he want to go? After all these years of losing, there's finally hope for him to reach the playoffs again while wearing an Angels uniform."

Blum hit the nail on the head. Trout now knows that the Angels can build a winning team. However, how long that process will take is another glaring question.
