Now that Halloween is last month's news, people are starting to thaw out their Christmas spirit. And with Christmas comes...

CORPORATE GREED!!!! Yay, how exciting. 😒 And one of the ways capitalism screws us over during the holidays is through Advent calendars.

Some of you may be thinking, "It's nice to have a little treat to look forward to each day leading up to Christmas." While that's cute in theory, the excitement can easily lead to disappointment when you open up "Day 4" only to receive the equivalent of overpriced pocket lint. So when my cynical-ass saw the Skims Advent calendar, I felt sooooo vindicated.

Kim Kardashian's clothing brand launched its Holiday Shop on Oct. 29 this year, which included its "Accessories Advent Calendar." Let's take a look at it with the help of the lovely Henna Ali, shall we?

The fashion and lifestyle influencer took to TikTok to do a little unboxing of the calendar, and I just want to start off by saying that, technically, a traditional Advent calendar should have 24 days. This one only has 12, so it's more of a 12 Days of Christmas countdown. I'm already docking points for that.

Henna holds open the Advent calendar box with 12 numbered compartments in it. Caption reads "-12 points (NOT a true Advent calendar)"

Another technicality: Apparently, the 12 Days of Christmas are actually supposed to be the days following Christmas, starting on the holiday and ending on Jan. 5. The more you know.

Now let's get into the actual items.

Day 1: A teddy bear keychain. This one is cute (on the LOWEST of keys 👀), so I'll be nice.

Henna holds up plaid bear captioned "+1 point, For festiveness/cuteness"

Day 2: Three hair ties... That's it.

Henna stretching the hair ties captioned "-3 points, For three disappointments"

Day 3: Three satin scrunchies... Yeah, it's definitely going downhill from here.

Henna stretching the scrunchies captioned "-3 points, Disappointed yet again"

Day 4: Three pink bobby pins. I'm starting to sense a theme.

Henna holding the clips captioned "-3 points, Bad things come in threes"

Day 5: Henna describes it as a "Skims stress, like, squishy thing," and I'm going to stick with that description.

Henna squishing it with the caption "-1 point?, I'm confused"

Day 6: Two brown hair clips. I'm shaking my head.

Henna showing one of the clips captioned "-1 point, I would use them, but only to justify the purchase (even though I will never be purchasing)"

Day 7: Two bra strap headbands. We're reverting to the '90s.

Henna stretching the headbands captioned "-5 points, Couldn't I just use my ACTUAL bra straps? Or go to the dumpster behind Victoria's Secret?"

Day 8: Even more bobby pins, this time in red.

Henna holding up the clips captioned "-6 points, Repeat item, so doubling the negative points"

Day 9: A brown comb keychain. I don't care that it's "dual-purpose." I still don't like it.

Henna holding the comb captioned "0 points (I could see people using it, but those people aren't me)"

Day 10: Another keychain, this time in red and not "dual-purpose."

Day 11: Get excited... MORE satin scrunchies! 😆

Henna clenching her teeth while holding the scrunches captioned "-6 points, Don't piss me off"

Day 12: A fuzzy compact mirror/keychain. Just what I wanted.

Henna holding the compact open captioned "-10 points, Saved the worst for last (the fur makes me uncomfortable)"

Based on the totally logical point system that I definitely wasn't just making up as I go, the Skims Advent calendar receives a whopping -53 points. What an achievement.

Henna concludes the video by saying she was disappointed that there was no ornament in the calendar, but "they're definitely accessories." Yup. They sure are.

Let's get a better look at this pile of "accessories." 🧐

Here's the real gag: When I looked up the price, it wasn't $25. It wasn't $50. Hell, it wasn't even $100, but rather...get ready...a whole $148!!!!!

Advent calendar for accessories priced at $148 is low in stock

People in the comments were furious for her:

i'm sorry that's HORRIBLE

You can physically see the excitement leaving you

That actually sucks. I genuinely would not pay any more than $20 for that

This should have been free with a $20 purchase

It's giving 5 below

The box was the best part, followed by a broken heart emoji

Just a bunch of dog chew toys

People on Reddit also called out the calendar for being...let's just say lackluster:

LOOKS LIKE THEY WALLET GOT SKIMMED

I wouldn't even want the majority of this crap for free

This looks like branded merch they give for free to potential investors at pitch meetings

What my cat brings out from underneath the couch

This person did point out, however, that the Skims website is pretty transparent about the contents of the calendar:

What were they expecting? The website tells you exactly what is inside. If you read that and still drop $300 on this, that seems like a you problem

The screenshot the user shared is in Canadian dollars. The US equivalent of the CA$276 price is $195.42... 😬

Overall, people on both platforms were shaking their head at Kim Kardashian:

How is Kim Kardashian not ashamed

Yeah, non-Kardashian fans have been calling her company “Skams” for years now due to how overpriced and scammy it is. But throwing up like $5 worth of plastic merch for $150 might be her worst grift yet

What do you think about Kim K's 12 Days of Disappointments *cough* I mean, Advent calendar? Let us know in the comments.
