The Chicago White Sox exceeded expectations in 2026.
Just two seasons after losing a record 121 games, the AL Central club won its first postseason series since the 2005 World Series.
Now, they'll look to make roster moves that can help them remain competitive in a wide-open American League.
Chicago's starting rotation could use a few more arms. As of now, Sean Burke, Davis Martin, Anthony Kay, Erick Fedde, and David Sandlin are the top five starters in the rotation.
Burke had a breakout season, but the White Sox need more. The Athletic's Jim Bowden tabbed them as a potential landing spot for a two-time All-Star who finished the season with the Chicago Cubs, Clay Holmes.
"Holmes throws a bowling-ball sinker almost 50 percent of the time, which netted an impressive 62 percent ground ball rate.
"His sweeper was his second-best pitch, and his changeup is solid, too. He can start or relieve, which increased his free agent value," Bowden wrote.

Holmes had a 4.25 ERA in nine starts with the Cubs after a midseason trade from the New York Mets. He missed nearly three months after a line drive fractured his right fibula.
If the White Sox are interested in Holmes, they won't have to break the bank for a multi-year contract like they'd have to if they signed Tarik Skubal or Michael King.
Bowden predicts Holmes will sign a two-year, $44 million contract this offseason. Could he land on the South Side of Chicago?
