The Baltimore Ravens are down a franchise quarterback with yet another injury blow to Lamar Jackson. In Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, the quarterback suffered a thumb injury on his throwing hand that will need surgery and may keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.
That's obviously not a great thing for Baltimore. After Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Bills, the Ravens are 4-4 and need to get back into the "win" column.
That's where a trade idea with the Chicago Bears comes into play. This idea is gaining steam around the NFL, but it could be an expensive one for the Ravens.
Ravens could target Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, but there's a catch
According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Ravens may not want to use their emergency option of Joe Fagnano as their main quarterback with Jackson out for so long. That means they could get a new starter before the NFL trade deadline hits on Nov. 10.
In a feature out on Sunday, Florio stated that Bears backup Tyson Bagent is of interest with Baltimore's current quarterback situation.
"Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle had that same position last year in Chicago," Florio states in the piece. "And the Bears have three quarterbacks. Bagent has a $4M salary in 2026, and a $4.25M compensation package in 2027. The Bears also have Case Keenum under contract, behind Caleb Williams."
But there's a catch. Florio says that it's not going to be cheap for Baltimore.
"The Ravens, we're told, may explore the possibility of acquiring Bagent. We're also told that it won't be cheap to get him," Florio stated in the piece. "That's how it goes when a team develops an in-season need for a quarterback. The price goes up, as reflected by the urgency of the effort to find a replacement."
He adds that the Ravens are in a tight spot and have zero quarterbacks on the practice squad. So, knowing that they're this needy for a quarterback is only going to make the Bears smarter about what they ask for Bagent.
