While the Minnesota Vikings have dealt with some strange quarterback situations over the past couple of months, it doesn't seem as big an issue as some are making it out to be.
The Vikings certainly don't have great quarterback play right now, but with the hope and expectation that Kyler Murray will be healthy, Minnesota has to feel confident in what it can do.
Murray wasn't great in his first game back after an injury against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, completing just 51.7% of his passes for 168 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.
However, against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, he should be in a strong position to bounce back.
Minnesota doesn't seem in a position to add a quarterback who hasn't proven much in the league, but Bleacher Report recently suggested it do so by taking a chance on Anthony Richardson. Richardson's upside is certainly there, but he isn't the answer, even if Minnesota wants to go a different route at the position.
“The 2023 first-round pick entered his third NFL season behind Daniel Jones on the Indianapolis depth chart. However, the 24-year-old still possesses considerable physical upside and has time to get his career back on track.
“However, Richardson is unlikely to draw significant interest as a prospective starter in 2027 free agency. Landing with a team facing uncertainty at quarterback next offseason could give him a chance to reestablish himself and compete for a starting job. Ideal Landing Spots: Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings,” Bleacher Report wrote.
Tool-wise, there's no doubt Richardson can do it all.
The unfortunate reality, however, is that he's dealt with some injuries throughout his career and just really hasn't been a great player beyond his tools.
That's ultimately something the Vikings would have to consider, and part of the reason why he isn't even playing in Indianapolis.
